Here at Allstate Tent, we want our customers use our products as long as possible. Often times, we are asked how to clean the tops to keep them looking good. Here are some quick tips on how to keep your tops in great shape.
—-Take Down—-
Proper take down is vital to keeping wear and tear of your top to a minimum. Always have a drop cloth underneath the vinyl until the take down is completed. Take down is also a good time to inspect the top for any damage that might have been sustained.
—-Cleaning—-
Washing the tents is not as simple as dousing them and water and forgetting about it. Rather spread the top out on the ground and use a broom, or soft brush and clean the top. The surface the top is laid on should be soft and free of sharp objects. Concrete or gravel can cause damage to the top during the cleaning process.
As for what to wash it with, we recommend either just plain water, or soap and water mixture. There are companies like Shipp, that also sell specialty cleaners.
All of our tops are made with 16 oz vinyl. This also allows the use of a pressure washer on the tops. While faster, this process should not be used often because it can cause premature wear.
—-Storage—-
After rinsing and washing the tent top, it is vital to make sure to completely dry off the top. If it is not completely dry, mold and acquire mildew will grow on the top. After drying off the top, it needs to be rolled up and stored in a tent bag stop block dust and environment damage. The top is now ready to be stored for the next big event!
